The Thomas Deacon Academy is the largest of the schools set up as part of the Government's Academies Programme.

The Thomas Deacon Academy in Peterborough is one of England's flagship Academy schools, and at £50M to build, it is the most expensive. The 19,000m2 Academy was designed by Lord Foster to resemble a corporate HQ, providing students with a unique working environment. When the Academy opened its doors to 2,200 students in September 2007, it was the largest and most technically advanced Academy built in the UK. Works undertaken by Horbury Building Systems Ltd included two coat plastering, partitions and feature ceilings using British Gypsums Arteco Rigitone tiles.
